There are few things I love more in video games than the juxtaposition of two elements that clearly should not be juxtaposed. China’s Ministry of Culture is once again cracking down on the online game industry in an attempt to limit the amount of “unwholesome” content the sector produces. According to a report from China Daily, the nation’s officials are prohibiting the use of sex, violence or gambling to market Chinese developers’ online games. Like the other regulations under this initiative, these restrictions will be effective as of August 1.

According to the government’s report on sexually-charged advertising, hiring adult film stars to serve as spokespeople for online games is a surprisingly common practice in China. Over here, we get Mr. T and Ozzy Osbourne. That’s a pretty fair trade-off, right?

We didn’t think there was anything slower in the whole, entire universe than one of Gears of War 3‘s lumbering, impossibly muscle-bound protagonists. We were wrong — as evidenced by the two GameTrailers videos posted after the break, that honor goes to the new Beast Mode’s “Berserker” character.

Odds are you were already planning to play some Uncharted 2 this weekend — it’s a great game and with the extra time off due to the holiday, why not? Well, Naughty Dog informs us that this weekend will yield players double the cash, upping the per-match ceiling for earnings to $150,000. Whoever said money can’t buy you happiness clearly never played Uncharted 2.

If you just can’t deal with Zelda as a side-scroller, good news: Zelda II: The Adventure of Link has been remade in 3D! Credit goes to one Michael A. Johnston, who designed this fan remake as a Unity-based game that you can play right in your browser. Zelda II FPS is an impressive feat, combining authentic 8-bit textures with brand new 3D models of all the creatures and environments.

It’s also freaking impossible. Even the once docile slime enemies are now dangerous, since you can’t tell when there are three of them right behind you. Enjoy being murdered repeatedly by weak enemies, for now, before Nintendo catches wind of this project — which it will, now that people like us are telling everybody — and likely shuts it down. Sorry!
